Kosciusko Mobile Home Repair Program is a program we created for low- to moderate-income families that own mobile homes. Close to 20% of the housing in Kosciusko County is mobile homes. This is a form of affordable housing for many families. Federal funds cannot be used for home repairs to mobile homes, so HOW developed this program using local non-federal funding to fill a need. The program is funded by donations, local organizations and paybacks from program participants.
The requests for this funding increase yearly. To ensure that the funding is best used, HOW gives preference to seniors, veterans, and the disabled. Most of the requests for this program are aging in place retrofits, furnaces and water heaters. The floor plans of many mobile homes are practical for people in wheel chairs.
