Housing Opportunities is partnering in Kosciusko County with SAWs (Servants at Work Inc.). Like HOW, SAWs is a not-for-profit 501(3) (c). Their mission is to build ramps with local volunteers. A community census found that 6% of the population in Indiana had personal accessibility needs; that’s 392,300 people, many of whom are wheelchair bound. SAWS has built hundreds of ramps across Indiana. HOW wants to ensure that every family in need in Kosciusko County has the opportunity to receive a ramp. This program will operate off of donations and some grant funds for the supplies and local volunteers for construction of the ramps.
HOW and SAW’s are looking to speak with church congregations and civic organizations about the program. This is an exciting partnership that will benefit many families in Kosciusko County.
